About the Author

Michael J. Barberi holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from New York Institute of Technology  and an M.B.A. in Finance from Hofstra University. In his later business career, he worked as a Senior Partner for Mercer Consulting and was a Senior Vice President for Merck. Mike retired at age 59 to pursue three passions: world travel, moral theology, and family genealogy.

After   six   years   of   self-study   and   mentoring   by two   prominent   moral   theologians,  Mike   realized that he could contribute to a better understanding of  truth  by  publishing  an  essay  in  a  prestigious Catholic  Journal  of  Theology  on  a  controversial issue:   Michael   J.   Barberi   and   Joseph   A.   Selling, “The  Origin  of  Humanae Vitae  and  the  Impasse  in Fundamental Theological Ethics,” Louvain Studies 37 (2013) 364-89.

With respect to family genealogy Mike has pursued this interest for the past fifteen years with the same passion as moral theology. Before this current family history book was published, Mike prepared family history books for four of his cousins and relatives covering not only their paternal Barbieri ancestry but the ancestry of each spouse that required research and understanding of Swedish, Irish, and German records. This current book is the result of his extensive research over a fifteen-year period including a family reunion trip to Italy.

Mike and his wife Fran have been married for 49 years, and currently live in Charlotte, North Carolina. They have a son Justin who lives in Richmond, Virginia, and a daughter Erica and two wonderful grandchildren, Roman and Blake, who reside in Montclair, New Jersey. Mike and Fran enjoy world travel and have been to many wonderful destinations including Africa, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Netherlands, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, Turkey, Greece, France, Egypt, Israel, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, Canada, South America, New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii, Fiji, and Bora Bora.
